FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions.
We've gathered the most common questions from Houston families to help you get answers quickly.
What is the main difference between a Child Placing Agency (CPA) and DFPS?
While both license foster homes, a CPA like All Kids First offers more personalized, 24/7 care coordinator support and smaller caseloads, ensuring you have a dedicated partner throughout your journey.
Do I have to be married to foster in Texas?
No. You can be single, married, or divorced. The requirement is a stable, loving home and the ability to meet the child's physical and emotional needs.
What is "Fictive Kin"?
This refers to individuals who are not related by birth or marriage but have a significant emotional relationship with the child, such as a close family friend or godparent. We provide specialized support for these "Kinship" placements.
